New Delhi: Three days after the Supreme Court on Friday suspended Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in defamation case linked to Modi surname remarks, Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership has been restored.
Rahul Gandhi, representing Wayanad Parliamentary Constituency of Kerala can attend Parliament sessions after his suspension for 4 months.

Rahul Gandhi is now eligible to attend the two-day debate on the no-confidence against the ruling government which will begin on Tuesday in the Lok Sabha. This will be followed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reply on Thursday.
“Supreme Court stayed the conviction. Now, the (Parliament) membership of Rahul Gandhi should be restored as fast as it was revoked,” says Lawyer KC Kaushik on Supreme Court staying the conviction of Rahul Gandhi in Modi surname remark case,” said PTI on Friday.
In view of the Supreme Court order of August 4, the disqualification of Shri Rahul Gandhi, notified vide Gazette Notification no. 21/4(3)/2023/TO(B) dated 24 March 2023 in terms of the provisions of Article 102(1)(e) of the Constitution of India read with Section 8 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, has ceased to operate subject to further judicial pronouncements, the Lok Sabha Secretariat order of August 7 read.
