Lui-Ngai-Ni celebrated in Chandel and Tamenglong

Chandel: Lui-Ngai-Ni, Naga seed sowing festival was celebrated at Chandel district on Tuesday, hosted by the Chandel Naga People’s Organization (CNPO) under the theme “Our Culture Our Journey”. The festival was also celebrated in Tamenglong organised by the Joint Tribes’ Council (JTC) a conglomerate body of Inpui, Liangmai, Ronngmei and Zeme tribes.

Padma Shri awardee Guru Rewben Mashangva, a well-known Naga folk musician and singer was the chief guest of the festival held at District Sports Complex Chandel Christian. David Boyes, President CNPO, S. Kho John, President United Naga Council (UNC), Asha Wungnam, President Naga Women’s Union (NWU), Wanglar Thiirtung, President (All Naga Students Association) attended the function as special guests among many Naga frontal organization’s, tribe leaders, village chiefs, religious leaders and well-wishers.

The unfurling of flag by Guru Rewben was followed by trumpet of Lui-Ngai-Ni 2022 and welcome note by David Boyes. As part of the celebration, the headman of Chandel Christian village Js. Luxmon Anal and his wife invoked God’s blessing and distributed the festival seeds to the respective tribe presidents.

The celebration was marked by beautiful cultural dance, folk songs, choreography, special nos from Naga tribes from Chandel district. Prominent dignitaries speaking on the occassion highlighted the importance of the celebration from historical and cultural perspectives. Preserving and promoting our culture is our journey and identity was collectively emphasized by the speakers on the occassion.

Convenor Local Organizing Committee, Hl. Lovingson Anal extended his note of appreciation to all the dignitaries and members for making the occasion a grand sucess. Lovingson extended his special gratitude to Dr. Lorho S. Pfoze for all the support though he could not made it to the festival on health ground reasons.

The second session of the festival titled musical and talents extravaganza held in the late evening features ACHAA (Live Band), Artists from 9 Naga tribes and traditional attires parade showcasing the rich talent and traditional attires from Chandel Naga communities. Tk. Darshini Maring, Ng. Eguilline Moyon and Ts. Hmanthung were the befitting comperes of the celebration.
