Senapati: The Major Bob Khathing Memorial Football Tournament 2026, organised by the Red Shield Division under the aegis of Spear Corps, concluded successfully with an exciting final match at the Senapati Astro Turf Football Ground.
In a closely contested final, Sadar Hills Football Association (FA) defeated Ngairei FC 2–1 to clinch the prestigious memorial trophy. The final match witnessed high-quality football, strong tactical play, and spirited performances from both teams, drawing enthusiastic spectators.
Menson FC secured the third position in the tournament after a competitive third-place encounter.
The tournament was organised to commemorate Major Bob Khathing, a revered soldier, administrator, and statesman whose legacy continues to inspire generations. Dr John R Khathing, son of Major Bob Khathing, conveyed his warm wishes and support for the event, expressing his presence in spirit despite being unable to attend due to prior commitments.
Speaking to media, Roli Washington, Vice President of the Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM), expressed satisfaction over the successful conclusion of the tournament. He stated that the event was organised by the Indian Army in collaboration with SDOAM and aimed at promoting and nurturing young sporting talent in the district.
Washington added that SDOAM, along with various district-level organisations, has been actively working to bring youth into the mainstream of football and other sports disciplines, providing them platforms to pursue sports as a career. He further stated that SDOAM has been supporting sportspersons not only at the district level but also at state and national levels.

The tournament, held from January 23 to January 31, saw participation from 14 teams across different parts of Manipur.
In the individual awards category, Kingson (Jersey No. 10) of Sadar Hills FA won the Golden Boot with six goals, Seiminlal (Jersey No. 98) of Sadar Hills FA received the Golden Glove award, while Rakeveiche (Jersey No. 10) of Ngairei FC was adjudged the Golden Ball winner.
The champion team, Sadar Hills FA, received a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh along with the trophy. Ngairei FC (runners-up) were awarded Rs 75,000, while Menson FC (second runners-up) received Rs 50,000.
