Major (Late) Bob Khathing Memorial Football Tournament to Begin at Senapati

SENAPATI: The Major (Late) Bob Khathing, MC, MBE Memorial Football Tournament is being organised at the Senapati Astro Turf Football Ground under the aegis of the Red Shield Division, Spear Corps, Indian Army, as a tribute to the legendary soldier, administrator and distinguished son of Manipur.

The tournament will be formally inaugurated with an opening ceremony on January 20, 2026, while the matches will be played from January 23 to 29, 2026, following a knock-out format. A total of 14 teams from across the region will take part in the competition, promising high-intensity and competitive matches.

The tournament aims to promote youth participation, healthy competition and sportsmanship, while strengthening community harmony. It also seeks to foster goodwill and meaningful engagement between the Armed Forces and local communities through sports.

By commemorating the legacy of courage, leadership and nation-building embodied by Major (Late) Bob Khathing, MC, MBE, the Indian Army reiterates its commitment to peace, stability and strong civil-military relations in the region. The tournament will conclude with the presentation of trophies and prizes to the winning teams.
