Ukhrul: The voting for the second and Phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 in thirteen Assembly Segments of Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency concluded peacefully today with an overall voter turnout of 76.06 percent recorded at 5 PM. Good turnouts were reported in places such as Mao, Karong, Tengnoupal, and Tadubi, with over 80 percent turnout recorded at 5 PM. Despite some disruptions in Ukhrul, overall polling went smoothly.
Voting started from 7 AM till 4 PM at various polling stations across the 13 Assembly Segments namely Jiribam, Tengnoupal, Phungyar, Ukhrul, Chingai, Karong, Mao, Tadubi, Tamei, Tamenglong, Nungba, Tipaimukh and Thanlon, spread across 8 districts namely, Ukhrul, Kamjong, Tamenglong, Noney, Senapati, Jiribam, Pherzawl and Tengnoupal districts.
Chingai recorded 66.10 %, Jiribam 59.85 %, Karong 86.01 %, Mao 89.84 %, Nungba 74.00 %, Phungyar 72.00 %, Tadubi 81.81 %, Tamei 73.00 %, Tamenglong 71.00 %, Tengnoupal 85.84 %, Thanion 72.00 %, Tipaimukh 79.00 % and Ukhrul 67.07 %
Catching briefly with Naga People’s Front candidate Kachui Timothy Zimik on the day of polling, he told this correspondent that peace and development in Manipur will be his top priority if he gets elected as a Member of the Parliament. “Regardless of the communities, I will work for the whole people of the state,” Timothy Zimik said.
