Manipur cabinet nods to implement vehicle scrapping policy in the state

Imphal: Information and Public Relations and Health Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh said that Manipur state cabinet has approved for the implementation of the Vehicle Scrapping Policy in the state.

Speaking to media persons at his office, the minister said that the cabinet on Tuesday has decided to set up of registered vehicle scrapping facilities and an automatic testing center in the state.

Prior to the budget session, the cabinet also discussed the budget estimates and the revised estimates besides the financial conditions and budgets of the state for the 2023-24 at the glance. We also discussed the Appropriation Bill that needs to be taken up during the budget session, said minister Ranjan.

According to him, there were around 39 listed agendas and 10 unlisted agendas discussed during the cabinet meeting.

It is very important that we strengthen the directorate of the institute of finance and for this, the cabinet has approved the creation of the Banning of Unregulated Deposit Scheme (BUDS) cell. And to strengthen this institutional finance and to make sure that there is no lack of staff,  the cabinet has approved the reengagement of an assistant director and one UDC, said minister Ranjan.

Also, the cabinet has approved the proposed renaming for the 15 villages in respect of Jiribam district. This include Bakhal village will be renamed as Ningthemkhunjao, Kadamtala as Kadampokpi, Champanagar Meitei as Leihaopokpi, Patchao as Chingdong Leikai, Boroikhal as Khongjao, Sabughat as Sabuthokpi, Babukhal as Chingkoipung, Narando Basa as Leingangpokpi, Gularthol as Samupunbi, Hilghat as Lamlen Atingbi, Bidyanagar as Maheikhullen, Harinagar as Lamnoupokpi, Uchathol as Lamdangkhun, Kamranga as Khuningthek and Sorok Atingbi Khunou as Khunou, he said.

Also, the cabinet approved the Manipur Procurement Policy 2022 where locals will be given preference in line with vocal for local, he said.

During the Sangai Festival held recently, Sangai Ethnic Park was one of the major sites and the park will be also hosting the G20 summit in the state. For that, the cabinet has given the approval for the direct purchase of land measuring for around 50 acres at the southern and western side at the Sangai Ethnic Park, informed minister Ranjan.

He further informed that to address the shortage of teaching staff, the cabinet also has approved to recruit 1140 pre-primary teachers under SSA and 500 graduate teachers.

The cabinet also has approved re-engagement of service for some employees on the basis of their experiment and requirement. Executive Engineer, Civil (Retired) T Robindro Singh will be re-engaged as project consultant of the Eklavya Model Residential School, re-engagement of three employees of Taxation Department namely Th Agang Kabui, Th Brojendro Singh and E Kamal Singh has been approved for six months. Controller of the Household, Raj Bhawan, E Nilamani, will be reengaged for one year. EE of RD & PR, Kh Rajendro Singh will be engaged as EE, MOBEDS on deputation, minister added.

The minister also informed that the cabinet also approved to constitute Kaina Temple Board to look after and manage the affairs of the temple.
