Nagaland: With assets of Rs 46.95 crore, CM Rio tops richest candidates

Mokokchung, February 11: Neiphiu Rio, the chief minister of Nagaland and a National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidate, has emerged as one of the wealthiest candidates running in this election, according to ANI, with stated assets of Rs 46.95 crore.

Rio declared his mobile assets to be worth Rs 15.99 crore and his immovable assets to be worth Rs 30.96 crore in an affidavit he submitted with his nomination papers on February 6.

His holdings have grown by Rs 10.54 crore over the last five years, claims ANI. Rio disclosed assets of Rs 36.41 crore in 2018.

Temjen Imna Along, the leader of the Nagaland BJP and the saffron party’s nominee for the Alongtaki seat, has disclosed a total net worth of Rs. 10.06 crore.

He declared assets worth Rs. 1.47 crore in mobile assets and Rs. 8.59 crore in immovable assets.

Y Patton, Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland and a candidate for the BJP in the Tyui seat, has disclosed that his entire assets, which include moveable and immovable assets, amount 2.25 crore.
TR Zeliang, a former chief minister of Nagaland and NDPP contender for the Peren seat, has disclosed a total net worth of Rs 7.37 crore.

It is to be noted that the Nagaland assembly election will see as many as 183 candidates in the electoral fray. The assembly polls in Nagaland will be held on February 27. The results will be declared on March 2.
