IMPHAL, AUG 2: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, while replying to a calling attention motion raised by MLA of Phungyar assembly constituency Leishiyo Keishing on the third day of the ongoing assembly session today, said that the concerned ministry will be intimated regarding the frequent landmine explosions along the Indo-Myanmar border of Kamjong district of Manipur. He said that the State Government will approach the Union External Affairs Minister and the Union Home Minister for a joint consultative action plan in the regard.
Replying to another calling attention motion moved by Congress leader K. Meghachandra Singh, the Chief Minister replied that the 10th & 11th IRB Battalions which are under training in Assam were recruited with the purpose of highways protection. A police officer in the rank of DIG has been assigned to supervise security arrangements for Imphal-Jiri Highway, Biren added.
To a query raised by Wangoi assembly constituency MLA Khuraijam Loken Singh about the sanctioned amount to construct the NH-137A, the Chief Minister replied that about Rs 3.51 crore has been sanctioned. The government is planning to upgrade the highway into a four-lane, he added.
Answering to the question raised by Congress leader Keisham Meghachandra Singh, the Chief Minister stated that there is a pending number of 5595 Utilization Certificates amounting to Rs. 13983.96 crore as on March 31, 2023 which is cumulative from 2003-04. He further explained that the reason for increase in UC pending is due to the increase in work allotment from the Central Government.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Th. Basanta Kumar Singh, replying to a query raised by Sugnu assembly constituency MLA K. Ranjit Singh, said that the result for the direct recruitment of 413 post for MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff) in the Education Department is expected to be declared at the earliest after consultation with the Chief Minister. There has been a delay in the declaration process due to the Covid pandemic followed by the ongoing crisis, he added.
