Manipur COVID-19 active cases decline to 366

Imphal: COVID-19 active cases in Manipur declined to 366 on Friday with 324 patients reported as discharged upon recovery on the day.

Single day rise of 28 new COVID-19 cases pushed Manipur’s overall infection count to 1,25,297, the state Health department said on Friday.

The active cases stands at 366 as 324 patients were reported as discharges on the day. The actual number of patients discharged today was 45.

However, 279 patients discharged on the previous days were reported as discharged only today due to various reasons. So, the total number of recovered cases is considered as 324 after reconciliation, it said.

Adding the fresh recovered cases, the recovery tally of the state rose to 1,22,951. The COVID-19 recovery rate of the state was 98.33 per cent

With one more patient succumbing to the viral disease in the last 24 hours, the state’s fatality toll rose to 1980. The deceased was not vaccinated and had comorbidities, the health department claimed.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 1,794 samples were tested and the daily positivity rate of the state was 1.6%. A total of 14,24,048 samples have been tested for the contagion in the state so far.

Imphal West continued to share the highest number of 17 fresh cases. Imphal East followed far behind with five cases only.

As many as 11 districts reported no new cases in the last 24 hours while Churachandpur district reported three new cases, two in Bishnupur and one in Thoubal district.

The total number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in the state also rose to 21,75,817 with 7,588 people being vaccinated on Thursday.

As many as 12,86,251 people received the first dose of the vaccine while 8,89,566 got both the doses in the state.
