UT News Service | Imphal, August 9: Manipur recorded 118 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 3,753.
The new 118 cases included 28 personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), detected during the testing of 2,411 samples in the last 24 hours, official reports in the state Health department said.
Giving details of the latest status of COVID-19 in the state, the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated that, out of the 118 new cases, 90 are from the general population. Of these 118 new cases, 71 of are locally transmitted cases as they have no significant travel history.
The district-wise distribution of new cases of COVID-19 showed that 38 are from Imphal East district, 12 from Churachandpur, 9 from Chandel, 18 from Imphal West, 1 from Jiribam, 11 from Kangpokpi, 9 from Senapati, one from Tamenglong, 13 from Thoubal and 6 from Ukhrul district.
Meanwhile, as per the latest update status on COVID-19 of the state Health department, a total of 101,230 samples have been tested for the virus in the state till date. The update also said that, out of the 3,753 cases of COVID-19 in the state, 1698 are active cases. The update also said that the number of recovered cases rose to 2044 as 117 patients were discharged on Sunday.
The update then said that, out of the 3753 COVID-19 cases recorded in the state, 2930 are from the general population and 823 are CAPF personnel. Among the 2044 recovered cases, 1909 are from the general population and 135 are CAPF personnel, while out of 1698 active cases, 1010 are from the general population and 688 are Central security personnel.
