Manipur on Monday set new grim records when its COVID-19 infection tally crossed 50,000-mark. The fatality number of the state due to COVID-19 related complications also surpassed 800-mark.
According to the daily COVID-19 situation report of the state Health department, with 14 more patients died due to COVID-19 related complications in the past 24 hours, the state’s COVID-19 fatality toll is 807 as of Monday.
The report showed seven deaths in Imphal West, three in Imphal East, two in Kakching and one each in Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts in the past 24 hours.
The state also recorded 869 fresh infections including three CAPF personnel as test results of 5,058 samples were received on Monday. The number of samples tested in the state so far reached 7,17,836.

The 869 fresh cases took the overall infection tally of the state to 50,751 which included 41,153 were recovered as 546 more patients were discharged on Monday after they recovered from the viral disease.
Including 49 CAPF personnel, the number of active cases of the state stood at 8,781, with recovery rate declining further to 81.08% against previous day’s 81.40.
Analysis of the district-wise report showed Imphal East district recorded the highest number of daily infections with 312. With 250 Imphal West followed.
At 98, Churachandpur district continued to be the third district in detecting the highest number of fresh cases even as the figure in Thoubal (56) and Bishnupur (61) remained a cause of concern.
Among the remaining districts, 25 fresh cases were in Senapati, 15 in Kakching, 12 in Tamenglong, 13 in Kangpokpi, eight each in Ukhrul and Chandel and four each in Jiribam and Kamjong.
Meanwhile, in its continuing efforts to ensure supply of adequate quantities of medical oxygen, the state Health department made available 1301 D-type oxygen cylinders and 550 B-type cylinders to different government health care facilities across the state on Monday.
The number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 in the state also reached 3,82,534.
