Manipur doctors demand incentives for state COVID-19 warriors

The Central government, in July this year, announced an insurance cover for frontline health workers – sanitation staff, paramedics and nurses, ASHA workers and doctors- who are working to tackle the COVID-19 illness and face the highest risk of contracting the illness. Doctors of government healthcare centres in Manipur on Wednesday demanded incentives.

“The same incentive must be provided to the doctors of the state who are working as frontline workers of COVID-19”, All Manipur HealthServices Doctors’ Association demanded.

Addressing a press conference at the conference of directorate of Health services here its president Dr P Shyamsunder Singh said that the same incentive which the Centre agreed to provide should be provided to the doctors of the state Health department.

In case of casualties (death) of doctors and health workers on duty, incentives should be given to them at par with the Central pattern.
