Manipur Governor Leads Independence Day Celebrations, Calls for Peace and Development

Imphal, August 15: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Friday hoisted the national flag and took the salute at a ceremonial march past featuring 33 contingents during the state’s 79th Independence Day celebrations at the 1st Manipur Rifles Parade Ground in Imphal.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Bhalla paid tribute to Manipur’s role in India’s freedom struggle, recalling the sacrifices of those who fought in the Anglo Manipuri War and the women-led Nupi Lal movements. He lauded the courage and resilience of the Manipuri people, highlighting in particular the contributions of women to the state’s history and society.

The Governor reaffirmed the government’s commitment to peace, stability and rapid development, expressing confidence that these priorities would help restore normalcy and build a more prosperous Manipur.
