UKHRUL, NOVEMBER 20: Ahead of the Sangai Festival, 2025, the Manipur government has appealed to the people of the state to extend their fullest cooperation and support to ensure the festival’s grand success.
In a statement issued by the chief secretary, Puneet Kumar Goel, the government stated that the Sangai Festival, 2025 which is scheduled from November 21-30 is not merely an event but a collective affirmation of the state’s commitment to moving forward together.
” The Sangai Festival, 2025 stands as a powerful testament to the resilient spirit and vibrant heritage of Manipur. On this occasion, the Government of Manipur extends a heartfelt appeal to every citizen in general and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in particular and all the stakeholders to extend their fullest cooperation and support to ensure the festival’s grand success,” the statement read.

The government reiterated that economic revival, tourism promotion, youth empowerment and community harmony are vital pillars for bringing Manipur back onto a sustained path of growth. “The Sangai Festival aims to embody these goals, acting as a catalyst for renewed hope, opportunity, economic growth and unity,” it stated.
Stating that the state government fully recognizes the profound hardship and suffering endured by our citizens, particularly the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), it highlighted that addressing the humanitarian crisis remains the government’s foremost priority.
“Significant and concrete steps have been taken towards relief and long-term rehabilitation. Currently, Rs 18.00 crore per month is being spent in providing monetary assistance to the IDPs and for management of relief camps across the state. Further, a sum of Rs 523 crore has been provided under Special Relief Package by Government of India. Out of this, a sum of Rs 180 crore has been earmarked for House restoration assistance for displaced families and Rs 250 crore for providing public assets such as Health Centres, Community Halls, Water supply, Schools, etc at the places where IDPs would be resettled or rehabilitated,” it stated.

The state government reiterated, “While relief and rehabilitation of IDPs is top priority for the State Government, holding of Sangai Festival is also important for economic acceleration and to provide market linkages for local artisans, entrepreneurs, craftsmen and farmers, boosting trade and investment. The government is simultaneously pushing major developmental projects to create jobs and enhance the ease of living.”
“By showcasing Manipur’s unique art, culture, indigenous sports and potential in tourism and IT, the festival aims to meticulously rebuild the state’s positive image on both the national and international stage, presenting Manipur as a safe, vibrant and rewarding destination,” the statement further read.

It continued that the state government’s commitment to its citizens is absolute.
“The government assures the public that its doors remain wide open for any discussion or representation in case of grievances, suggestions or constructive criticism. Constructive engagement with all communities, organisations and individuals is crucial for resolving issues, if any,” it stated, while appealing to the people of Manipur to participate in the Sangai Festival, 2025 with enthusiasm.
