Manipur Hill Journalists’ Union observes 38th Foundation Day at Manipur Press Club

The 38th Foundation Day of the Manipur Hill Journalists’ Union (MHJU) was observed in a simple function at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul, Imphal today.

Condolences and two minutes silence prayers was held in respect of the departed souls from the union. Floral tributes were paid by the members to the recent demised Thotshang Shaiza who succumbed to COVID -19 on June 12.

Thotshang Shaiza was a Senior journalist from Ukhrul district. He was a news reporter of The Aja Daily newspaper.

Meanwhile, executives of the present tenure was dissolved today where the house unanimously elected Lalmalsawm Sellate as the caretaker President of the Union until new executives take charge.

The general body meeting decided to hold pending election of the Union which was postponed last year due to COVID on October 8, 2021.

The following persons have been appointed as Election Commission, Addie Chiphang from Ukhrul, Vicky from Churachandpur and Samuel Pao from Senapati district. The three member EC will take the charge to hold election on the scheduled date according to MHJU election norms.
