Bhaktaraj Thiyam told reporters today that the attack took place on his way back from Thoubal where he visited the house of his relative last night.

After that, three miscreants came out of the Bolero car and asked him if he was the president of the youth wing of the JD(U) Manipur unit.
Out of fear, he said he was not the person they requested. Then, the miscreants conducted a check on his car and took away money from his wallet which was put in the car.
The miscreants then, all of a sudden, fired some rounds towards him before leaving the place in the same vehicle they came in with. They drove the vehicle toward the Thoubal headquarters side, he added.

A complaint has been lodged with the police regarding the incident, he said while drawing the attention of the concerned authorities to nab the miscreants at the earliest.
The JD(U) youth wing chief further expressed concern over the increasing gun culture in the valley areas amid the unrest owing to ethnic conflict.
He demanded that the concerned authorities take up concrete steps to check the gun culture in the state.
