Manipur likely to set up its first five-star hotel

Imphal: If the speculation is true, Manipur will get its first luxurious five-star hotel in the state soon.

On Monday, chief minister N Biren Singh had a discussion with visiting teams from Taj Hotel and Howarth Hotels at his office in Imphal.

Taj Hotels is a chain of luxury hotels and a subsidiary of the Indian Hotels Company Limited, a Tata Group Company that operates a total of 90 hotels and resorts with 75 across Indian and 15 in overseas. Whereas Howarth Hotels is one of world’s largest and most experienced hospitality consultancy firm based in the UK.

Taking to his Twitter handle, chief minister Biren Singh said “Pleased to chair a discussion with the visiting teams from Taj Hotel and Howarth Hotels at my secretariat today.”

He further stated that “Had a productive discussion on widening the scope for travel and ecotourism in the state and the plans for making Manipur as one of the top tourist destinations in the country.”

With improved in connectivity and hospitality industry, Manipur can become one of the top tourist destinations in the region besides boosting state’s economy.

At present, Manipur has one four-star hotel namely Classic Grande, a member of Radisson Individuals and two three star hotels such as Hotel Imphal and The Classic Hotel in Imphal.
