Manipur logs 20 new COVID-19 cases, one death

With 4,771 people being vaccinated on Tuesday, the total number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in the state so far rose to 22,47,868.

Manipur reported 20 Covid-19 positive cases of the 1,003 samples tested in the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The state also reported one death related to the viral disease during the same period. The deceased was not vaccinated against COVID-19.

Adding the 20 fresh positive cases, the overall COVID-19 infection count in the state rose to 1,25,569 while the fatality toll rose to 1,993, the state Health department said.

As many as 22 patients were discharged upon recovery on Wednesday, taking the recovery tally of the state to 1,23,263. The recovery rate of the state stood at 98.16%.

The state has 313 active cases at present.

The positivity rate of the day was 1.00% as the 20 new cases were detected upon testing of 2,003 samples. So far, a total of 14,41,352 samples have been tested for the virus in the state.

At nine, Imphal West topped the districts in reporting the highest number of new cases, followed by Imphal East with six.

Bishnupur reported three new cases and one case each in Churachandpur and Kakching districts while the other 11 districts reported zero new cases.

Meanwhile, with 4,771 people being vaccinated on Tuesday, the total number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in the state so far rose to 22,47,868.

Of these total, 13,05,664 were first doses while the remaining 9,42,204 were second doses, the Health department said.
