Manipur logs 791 Covid-19 cases, 14 deaths

Eight of the 14 deceased were from Imphal East, three from Imphal West and one each from Bishnupur, Thoubal and Kangpokpi districts.

Manipur on Friday reported 791 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, while death cases due to the virus related health complications rose by 14 in the same period.

Following this update, the Manipur’s COVID-19 infection caseload reached 53,690 and the death toll to 863, according to a press release of the Health department. The update also said that the recovered cases in the state rose to 43,779, leaving 9,048 as active cases with 81.54% recovery rate.

The press release also said that in the past 24 hours, 791 persons (407 males and 384 females) from general population were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases.

The positive cases were detected as test results of 7,689 samples were received during the past 24 hours. The positive rate was 10.29%. It was 10.77% in the previous day.

The data of the Health department showed 271 fresh infections in Imphal West district, 167 in Imphal West, 84 in Thoubal, 49 in Bishnupur, 52 in Kakching, three in Ukhrul, 89 in Churachandpur, 23 in Chandel, nine in Senapati, three in Tamenglong, six in Tengnoupal, 24 in Kangpokpi, six in Kamjnog, four in Noney and one in Jiribam.

As per the state level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee, 14 COVID-19 patients succumbed to health complications in the past 24 hours, pushing the state’s fatality tally to 863.

Eight of the 14 deceased were from Imphal East, three from Imphal West and one each from Bishnupur, Thoubal and Kangpokpi districts.

Six of them died at RIMS hospital, three each at JNIMS and Shija hospitals and two at Raj Medicity hospital.

A total of 592 patients were discharged, out of which 380 are from home isolations, 11 from RIMS hospital and four from JNIMS hospital. The rest 197 were from other Covid care centres, the Health department reported.
