Ukhrul: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Manipur State Unit expressed grief on Wednesday at the passing of Dr. Huskha Yepthomi, Working President of NPF, who died at Zion Hospital and Research Center, Dimapur, on May 21. He was 83.

In a condolence message, Awangbow Newmai, President of NPF MSU and Manipur Minister, recalled that Yepthomi was a leader who genuinely cared for the welfare of the Naga people. “A leader who always thought about the well-being of the Nagas, traveling the length and breadth of Naga-inhabited areas,” Newmai said.

He further stated that with the inception of the Naga People’s Front in Manipur in 2011, the lone Naga political party aimed to bring the Nagas under one administrative roof. Dr. Yepthomi, as Working President, set foot in Manipur as a political leader spreading the message of brotherhood. His unwavering love for the Nagas and NPF led many Naga people to join the party.

“Recalling your speeches to leaders and young Nagas to cultivate a strong feeling of oneness and march towards our goal, we will miss you, Sir. We salute you for the footprint you left,” said the condolence message while expressing shock at the untimely demise of a leader after a prolonged illness.

The NPF MSU also expressed their condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that the departed soul may rest in peace.

A resident of Yemishe village in Nagaland’s Zunheboto district, Dr. Huskha Yepthomi was the President of Sumi Hoho before he was elected as the Working President of Naga People’s Front in 2011.
