Ukhrul, August 27: An exchange of fire took place between two militant groups suspected to be National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) and Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) on Wednesday morning in a village in Noney district of Manipur.
The gunfight, which lasted for at least an hour, occurred at Bwanruangh Taudaizaeng village under Nungba Police station, Noney district, according to police.
However, no casualty was reported till the filing of this report.

Meanwhile, womenfolk of Rongmei Luh Phuam Luangba Luangrian held a protest rally at Bwanruangh Taudaizaeng village against such gunfights in the village area. The protesters demanded the concerned groups to stop fratricidal killings and conflicts among themselves and appealed them to maintain peace and unity.

It may be mentioned that at least eight members from different Naga groups, including two from NSCN-IM, had recently joined ZUF.
