Manipur Police: 2 held with drugs, vehicle lifters caught at RIMS

Imphal: Manipur police arrested two individuals for possession of contraband drugs at different places in the state on Monday.

One Baseimayum Yaibi (54 years) of Porompat, Imphal East was arrested in possession of 631 grams of suspected WY tablets from the Old Jail Road area opposite TG Higher Secondary School in Imphal West. Police also confiscated two mobile phones and a car.

In another case, police arrested one Qamrul Huda (21 years) of Lilong Bazar, Thoubal district in possession of 2.080 kg of suspected contraband brown sugar at Imphal airport. 

Separate cases have been registered at the relevant police stations and investigations are underway.

In a separate incident, Manipur Police arrested two vehicle lifters who were reportedly trying to steal a 2-wheeler vehicle from RIMS Campus at Lamphel in Imphal on Monday.

According to police, arrested persons are Ajijur Rahaman (43) of Chongtham Nungei, Thoubal District and Md. Quyamuddin (31) of Lilong Ataokhong Mamang Leikai.

Police seized one auto-rickshaw in which the two accused vehicle lifters came, two mobile phones and one master key from them.

A case has been registered against them at Lamphel Police Station and investigations are underway.
