Manipur Police Arrest 7 KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) Cadres in Langol Operation; Arms, Vehicles, and Ammunition Recovered

Imphal, October 14: Manipur Police has said that a joint team of security forces arrested seven active cadres of the proscribed KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) group during a search operation conducted in Langol Game Village Zone III, Imphal. The operation, Police said was launched early this morning following reliable intelligence reports about the group’s presence in the area, with intentions to carry out extortion and other illegal activities.

The arrested individuals as per Manipur Police were identified as Loushambam Alin Singh (26), Konsam Rohit Singh (23), Sanju Wahengbam (20) alias Lemba, Phanjoubam Thoiba Mangang (26) alias Malemnganba, Waikhom Hero Meetei (21), Yanglem Bikash Meitei (23) alias Amujao, and Henthoibi Moirangthem (41) alias Chan. All seven suspects belong to various districts in Imphal, including Imphal West and Imphal East.

During the operation, as per Police report, the security forces seized several vehicles, weapons, and other incriminating items:

1. A white Toyota Fortuner (Regd. No. MN06LA 7346) and additional fake number plates from Assam, West Bengal, and Manipur.

2. A Hyundai Grand i10 (Regd. No. MN01AG 8516).

3. A Royal Enfield Classic 350 bike.

4. Two pistols, including one marked “FORGAS TAURUS S. A. MADE IN BRAZIL PT 58 HC 380 ACP,” along with magazines and ammunition.

5. Mobile phones, camouflage uniforms, and other materials linked to their illegal operations.

The Police report further added that the arrested individuals are currently in police custody, and a case has been registered at Lamphel Police Station for further investigation into their activities, including extortion and threats against civilians in the area.
