Manipur records highest single-day spike of COVID-19

NNN | IMPHAL, July 29: Manipur witnessed the highest single-day spike of COVID-19 on Wednesday as the state detected 141 cases. With this update, the tally of COVID-19 cases in the state reached 2458. The tally included 805 active cases of the disease and 1653 recovered cases as per the status update on COVID-19 of the Health Department.

The 141 new cases of COVID-19 were detected when 1,459 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The state has tested 83111 samples so far.

Of the 141 new cases, 117 are males, said a press release of the COVID-19 Common Control Room.  The risk factor and travel history of most of the COVID-19 cases were under investigation, it added.

Thirty of the new cases are from Imphal West, 51 from Churachandpur district, eight from Thoubal district, seven from Imphal East district, two from Bishnupur district, 29 from Senapati district, three from Kakching district and four from Tamenglong district. They were being shifted to COVID care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures such as containment and contact tracing are in place, the report added.
Meanwhile, 38 persons were discharged on Wednesday after recovering from the disease.
