Manipur reports 26 new COVID cases in the past 24 hours

The active case in the state also rose to 118 and the recovery rate stood at 98.32%.

After the second wave hit some states of the country, the Manipur government took up various measures for a possible second wave in the state. The state resumed testing of air passengers arriving at Imphal airport besides imposing restrictions in mass gathering etc.

Despite the measures, the state has been witnessing a gradual increase in the daily caseload of COVID-19 from single digit to double digits in the past week.

After 18 cases of COVID-19 were recorded on Monday, the daily caseload jumped to 26 on Tuesday. The 26 fresh cases were detected during testing of 811 samples.

Among the fresh cases, three were Central security personnel. Of the 23 from the general populace, 11 were from Imphal West, seven from Imphal East and one each from Thoubal, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Chandel and Jiribam districts.

Adding the fresh cases, the infection tally of the state rose to 29,540. The tally included 29,046 recoveries. The recoveries included 11 patients who were discharged today upon recovery, said the daily update report of the state Health department.

The active case in the state also rose to 118 and the recovery rate stood at 98.32%.

The fatality tally remained at 376 as there was no report of death related to the pandemic in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, with 2400 people vaccinated on Monday, the total number of people who received the first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 in the state rose to 96,966. Among them 32,060 were healthcare workers, the Health department said.
