Manipur reports lowest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases

Manipur reported 14 fresh cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the lowest daily spike in Covid-19 cases since August last year. 

With the fresh 14 cases, the state’s total tally has now reached 28,660 which included 27,805 recoveries. The state has 490 active cases as on Sunday.

According to the daily COVID-19 update report of the state health department, 11 persons from the general populace and three personnel of CAPF were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours (till 5pm of January 10).

Of the 11 positive cases from the general populace, four were from Imphal West, three from Imphal East and two each from Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts.

The 14 fresh cases were detected during testing of 1,064 samples in the last 24 hours. A total of 4,89,754 samples have been tested in the state since the spread of the pandemic in March, 2020.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the health department said.

There was no report of death related to COVID-19 in the state during the last 24 hours as per the update report. The casualty tally stood at 365.

A total of 39 patients were discharged after they recovered from the viral infection. The recoveries included one CAPF personnel.

The 28,660 overall numbers of people who exposed to the virus in the state included 3,389 CAPF personnel.

The total 27,805 recoveries also included 3,364 CAPF personnel and 21 of the 490 active cases were also CAPF personnel. The recovery rate of the state stood at 97.01%, as per the update report of the health department.
