Manipur: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to lay foundation Stone for multiple Road Projects

UT News Service | Aug 16: Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and MSMEs is to lay foundation Stone for 13 highway projects and to inaugurate a road safety project in Manipur on Monday, the 17th of August, as reported by Press Information Bureau (PIB) Delhi.

Shri Nitin Gadkari, as reported, will lay foundation stone for 13 highway projects and inaugurate a Road safety project in Manipur where Shri N Biren Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur will preside over the virtual function, to be attended by MoSRTH Gen (Retd) V K Singh, several MPs, MLAs and senior officers from the Centre and the State.

These projects, as reported by PIB is for inauguration and foundation laying carry a Road length of 316 kilometres, involving construction value of about ₹3000 crore. Paving the way for development of Manipur, these roads will enhance better connectivity, convenience and economic growth in Manipur.

The projects will be given to National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCl) with 164.42 Km to cover, and total construction cost of ₹2806.35 Crore, and Public Works Department (PWD) with 151.5 Km to cover and total construction cost of ₹126.24 Crore.

This projects include four laning of Imphal–Moreh Section of NH-39(NH-102), widening to two-lane with hard shoulder of Churachandpur to Tuivai section of NH 102, Widening/strengthening to two laning with hard shoulder of Pallel-Chandel section, construction of Moreh Bypass to two Lane with paved shoulder.

Other projects include Widening/Improvement to 2-lane with Earthen Shoulder of Yaingangpokpi-Finch Corner Section, 2-laning of Churachandpur-Tuivai Section of NH-102B, restoration and Rehabilitation of road from (length=83.50 km) on NH-102A i/c protection/slide slope works byretaining walls etc.

Restoration and Rehabilitation of road (length=68 km) on NH-102A i/c protection/slide slope works byretaining walls, Road Safety work through improvement of junctions, Foot over Bridge, Footpath, Road Signs, Marking etc. in km 462 to 464 of NH- 150 under road safety Annual Plan 2017-18 are also part of the development drive.
