Manipur: Vineet Joshi appointed as new Chief Secretary

Imphal: Vineet Joshi, a 1992 Manipur cadre IAS officer, additional secretary, Department of Higher Education has been appointed as the new chief secretary of Manipur.

Vineet Joshi replaces Dr Rajesh Kumar whose term as chief secretary of Manipur was extended for six months in December 2022. Dr Rajesh Kumar’s extended term was due to expire in July 2023.

Dr Rajesh Kumar was appointed as chief secretary in August 2020, succeeding former chief secretary Dr Suresh Babu during the Governorship of Najma Heptulla. He is a 1988 batch IAS officer of Manipur cadre.

“The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved repatriation of Shri Vineet Joshi, IAS (MN:92) Additional Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education to his parent cadre on the request of the Government of Manipur,” the appointment letter said.
