Manipur violence: Arms and ammunition recovered in Imphal East in search operations

Imphal, June 27: A combined team of Imphal East District police commando, Heingang police and 16th Jat regiment carried out search operations at Kairang Awang Leikai, Khomidok and Heikhrumakhong on Monday.

The team arrested 33-year-old Md Nursafi, son of Md. Nizam of Heikhrumakhong Kewa Makhong, 46-year-old, Md Sanayai and his 50-year-old brother Md Rashid, both sons of Late Md Achou of Khomidok Sorok Mapal and 40-year-old, Md Hasan of late Md Achou from Khomidok Sorok Mapal, all in Imphal East District.

The combined team under the overall supervision of Imphal East District SP Ksh Shivakanta carried out the drive from 4:30 am till 11:30 am.  One 9 MM Carbine 1A1 with one empty magazine marked as “s”, one point 22 pistol, one empty magazine, one air pistol, two 5.56 mm Insas magazine, one point 303 LMG magazine, 21 numbers of 7.62 MM live ammunition, 2.5 lakhs in cash, mobile phones and two four wheelers were seized during the drive.
