Manipur’s COVID-19 infection tally goes past 1.25 lakh

Manipur’s tally of COVID-19 cases has surpassed 1.25 lakh cases on Tuesday, with 50 people testing positive for the contagion. 

The state also recorded one death in the last 24 hours, taking the fatality toll to 1,963.

The state has added 1,226 cases during the current month November till Monday. A total of 3,227 cases were added in the state’s pool in October. 

With the 50 fresh cases, the state has so far registered 1,25,007 cases. At present, 687 people are under treatment. 

The fresh cases were detected upon testing of 2,146 samples in the last 24 hours and the positivity rate of the day is 2.3%.

As many as 40 patients were discharged on Tuesday after they recovered from the viral disease, taking the overall recovery count of the state to 1,22,357.

According to a bulletin of the state Health department updated at 5 pm today, one more patient succumbed to COVID-19, taking the fatality toll in the state to 1,963.

The death was reported in Imphal East district. He had comorbidities and was not vaccinated, the Health department added.

Imphal West recorded 20 fresh cases and no deaths. There were 17 news cases in Imphal East district, three each in Bishnupur and Chandel and two in Kangpokpi district. 

One case each was reported in Kakching, Kamjong, Senapati, Tengnoupal and Ukhrul districts while zero case in the remaining districts –Churachandpur, Jiribam, Noney, Pherzawl, Tamenglong and Thoubal districts.

On Monday, 6,401 people were vaccinated across the state, taking the total number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine so far administered in the state to 21.12,237.

Of these total, 12,71,884 were first doses while the remaining 8,40,353 second doses, the Health department said.
