Manipur’s COVID-19 infection tally reaches 28,243, death toll mounts to 357

Manipur on Saturday reported 37 fresh COVID-19 cases which is below 50-mark in the single-day spike for the five consecutive days.

The state has been witnessing a downward trend in the daily caseload of the disease in the last one month with below 50-mark since December 28 last. The lowest single-day spike was reported on Friday with 18 fresh cases only.

The daily update on COVID-19 status of the state Health department showed the state’s COVID-19 infection tally at 28,243 including the 37 fresh cases detected in the last 24 hours.

The overall tally included 26,782 recoveries and 1,104 active cases. The recovery rate of the state stands at 94.82%.

With one more dead in the last 24 hours (till 4pm of January 2), the number of COVID-19 related death has reached 357 on Saturday.

The fresh cases of the disease are: 12 from Imphal West, eight from Imphal East, seven from Tamenglong, five from Thoubal, three from Churachandpur and two from Bishnupur.

A total of 40 more persons were discharged today after they recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s recovery rate to 94,82 %.
