Manipur’s daily COVID-19 tally continues to rise with 94 new cases

Imphal: The rise of COVID-19 cases continues in Manipur as the state added 94 new cases in the past 24 hours.

The latest bulletin of the COVID-19 Control Room of the state government showed 29 patients had recovered from the infection while none died in the state in a day.

The active cases went up to 450 after 1,35,303 recoveries and 2,120 deaths so far. The state reported no death link to the virus since March 18 last. The recovery rate of the state further declined to 98.14%.

A total of 590 samples were tested for the virus in the state in the last 24 hours and the positivity rate of the day stood at 15.9%. Imphal West district continued to report the highest number of fresh cases with 41 cases on the day, followed by its twin Imphal East district with 29.

Eight new cases were reported in Thoubal district, four in Bishnupur and three each in Kangpokpi, Noney and Ukhrul districts. Two cases were reported in Churachandpur and one in Kakching district.

Meanwhile, the state recorded a rise in the number of people coming out to take the COVID-19 vaccine with 10,555 persons inoculated on Friday.

The sharp rise in the people’s response to the vaccination drive led to the crossing of total dose of the vaccine administered in the state 30 lakh mark to touch 30,06,762.

The number of people receiving the first dose rose to 16,02,770 out of which 12,71,796 of them jabbed with the second dose. The number of people getting the precautionary dose also jumped to 1,31,196, the state health department said.
