Kumarjit, son of the late Laishram Sarat from Takyel Khongbal Maning Leikai, Imphal West District, was arrested by the police team yesterday.

Laishram Kumarjit’s arrest follows an earlier incident where a proscribed outfit reportedly shot Kumarjit in the leg as punishment for his alleged involvement in the flesh trade.

A video of the incident went viral. Kumarjit was produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class-Imphal West, where the court remanded him to police custody for seven days until June 12. The fashion designer faces charges under the Immoral Trafficking Act of 1956 and other related laws.
