The number of Manipur’s single-day COVID-19 recoveries exceeded the number of daily new infections for the second time on Monday since the second wave hit the state in the last week of March this year.
The state reported 538 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday while 611 patients were discharged upon recuperation on the same period. The state also reported 17 deaths due to COVID-19 related complications during the same period.
The 538 new cases were confirmed when 2,600 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, taking the state’s cumulative case burden to 44,627 cases out of 6,85,017 samples tested so far.
Adding today’s 611 discharges, the cumulative number of recovered cases in the state stood at 37,478 with 83.98 recovery rate. The state has currently 6,444 active cases, out of which 90 were CAPF personnel.
The state Health department, in its bulletin updated today at 5 pm showed of the 538 new cases, eight were personnel of the Central security forces.
The worst affected Imphal West district continued to share a maximum number of 202 fresh cases, followed by Imphal East with 164, the second worst affected district.
With seven each, 14 of the 17 deaths in the state were also shared by the two districts. The remaining three victims were from Bishnupur, Kakching and Thoubal districts.
