Meet Arunachal’s First Female Physique Sports Gold Medalist Hillang Yajik

Agartala/Ukhrul, Jun 14: Thirty-eight years after Arunachal Pradesh’s statehood, the state has found its first female international gold medalist in physique sports through Hillang Yajik’s exceptional performance at the South Asian Bodybuilding Championships, where she claimed both gold and silver medals for India.

Yajik clinched one gold and one silver medal at the 15th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships 2025, held in Thimphu, Bhutan, from June 11 to 15. With this remarkable achievement, she becomes the first female physique sports athlete from Arunachal Pradesh to win a gold medal at the international level.

The championship was hosted by the Bhutan Bodybuilding Association and witnessed participation from several South Asian nations. The event was sanctioned by the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation and the Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation.

Arunachal Bodybuilding Association President Nabam Tuna praised Yajik’s achievement in a statement, calling it “notable not only for her individual success but also for representing India on a global platform.”

Yajik’s success marks a proud moment for both the state and the country. The achievement is expected to inspire a new generation of athletes from the Northeast to pursue excellence in physique sports.
