Meghalaya Chief Secretary to Submit Reservation Policy Recommendations by August 31

Shillong, June 20: Meghalaya Chief Secretary DP Wahlang will submit recommendations on the steps to be taken by the state government in regard to the expert committee report on the State Reservation Policy by August 31, 2025.

“The cabinet has entrusted the task of studying the report to me, and I am submitting the report by August 31,” Wahlang told reporters.

“After studying the report of the expert committee, I will give a complete recommendation and the steps to be taken by August 31,” he added.

On June 13, the state cabinet assigned Wahlang to study the expert committee’s report on reviewing the state’s job reservation policy.

Cabinet minister Paul Lyngdoh stated that a summary of the bulky report will be placed before the cabinet. The full report will then be tabled in the state Assembly, scheduled for September 2025.

The expert committee, headed by Justice (Retired) Mool Chand Garg, was constituted on September 12, 2023, to review the existing reservation policy following public demands.
