Meghalaya: Four candidates file nomination papers for LS elections

Shillong: Four candidates including sitting Congress MP, Vincent H Pala today filed their nomination papers from the Shillong parliamentary seat for the upcoming elections to the 18th Lok Sabha, to be held on April 19.

The other candidates include from the Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) Robertjune Kharjahrin, Voice of the People Party (VPP) Dr Ricky AJ Syngkon and Independent Prof Lakhon Kma.

Earlier, NPP candidate and cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh and Independent candidate Peter Shallam have filed their nominations during the third day of filing of nominations.

Altogether six candidates will contest from the Shillong parliamentary constituency after the BJP has decided to extend full support to the NPP.

The last date of filing of nomination will be on March 27.

Scrutiny of nominations will be held on March 28 and the last date of withdrawal of candidatures will be on March 30.
