Meghalaya to Present Vision Document 2047 for Developed India: DoNER Minister

Ukhrul, Feb 26: Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr Sukanta Majumdar on Wednesday announced that Meghalaya will present its Vision Document 2047 next month.

Addressing media persons, Dr Majumdar said, “Meghalaya along with other states are making Vision Document 2047 as Prime Minister has the vision that by 2047, India will become a developed country.”

“However, without a developed North East, the dream of a developed Bharat cannot be achieved,” he said while adding, “Therefore, Meghalaya and other NE states are making this vision document and it is almost ready. The Union Minister will visit probably on March 11 or 12, and in his presence and the presence of the chief minister Conrad K Sangma, the state will present the vision document.”

“I believe this vision document will pave the way for achieving a Viksit Meghalaya and ultimately we will reach the Viksit Bharat,” Dr Majumdar asserted.

The Union Minister of State also informed that the Chief Minister of Meghalaya is heading a ministerial task force on tourism.

“I also met with the Chief Minister and he is very keen to focus on the developmental works under the DoNER ministry, and he is very keen to develop tourism in the state,” he said.

Stating that the Prime Minister had visited the NE several times besides assigning central ministers to visit the region regularly, Dr Majumdar said, “I believe in the near future, the NE states including Meghalaya will become the power centre of our country.”
