Tourism Minister appealed the locals to extend the best hospitality to all the tourists to further promote the tourist destinations. Cycle Rally, Cultural shows and traditional food items & handicrafts stalls were the highlights of today’s event.

Imphal: Minister for Tourism, Government of Manipur Oinam Lukhoi Singh graced the World Tourism Day, 2021 held under the theme ‘Tourism for Inclusive Growth’ at Mapithel (Ramrei Village), Kamjong District today.

Addressing the gatherings, Minister Lukhoi highlighted the various tourism projects taken up by the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh in all the Districts of Manipur. He further stated that such projects will boost the tourism sectors of the state and it will contribute in the inclusive socio-economic development. With the improved law and order situation of the state over the lastfew years, Minister asserted that there is more influx of tourism in Manipur. Lukhoi also mentioned that revenue from tourism will be reinstated with the improved COVID-19 situation in Manipur.

MLA, Jiribam Assembly Constituency/Chairman, TCML, Md. Ashab Uddin, Advisor to CM(Health) & MLA, Konthoujam AC, Dr. Sapam Ranjan, MLA, Wangjing Tentha Assembly Constituency, P. Brojen also graced the occasion as Guest of Honour and President respectively. Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism), P. Vaiphei, Director, Tourism, W. Ibohal and concerned officials were also present.

It may be noted that the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) UNWTO has therefore designated World Tourism Day 2021 as a day to focus on Tourism for Inclusive Growth. World Tourism Day, celebrated each year on 27 September, is the global observance day fostering awareness of tourism’s social, cultural, political and economic value and the contribution that the sector can make towards reaching the Sustainable Development Goals.
