Mishilimi village celebrates Centenary

Mishilimi: To commemorates 100 years of Christianity in Mishilimi village, all Churches under Mishilimi village came together under one banner and celebrated Mishilimi Christian Centenary (1921-2021) under the theme: “Proclaim the liberation (Isaiah 61:1-4)” at Old Mishilimi village ground today.

Thousands of its villagers from all walks of life including in-laws and delegates from all inter-denominational neighboring villages Churches attended the Centenary celebration.

The main speakers of the celebration includes; Rev. Hotokhu P. Zhimomi, E.S. SABAK; Rev. Vitoka Kinimi, E.S. NCRC Sumi H.Q.Pughoboto and Rev. Henito Sheqi, Pastor Chisholimi Baptist Church.

Y. Vikheho Swu, MLA 13th A/C Pughoboto in his greeting message said with the celebration of 100 years of Christianity,  everyone must move ahead with creative ideas and guide each others towards accomplishing one’s dream. 

The jubilee souvenir was released by Rev. Akhato Sheqi Swu Pastor, Prayer and Healing Centre, Ayinato.

Representing 100 years of its existence, jubilee choir numbering 100 members presented a special song in all the services. While, the volunteers of the jubilee come up with the same number of 100 members.

Meanwhile, Ghoshito G. Swu, Pastor Tokugha Baptist Church led the prayer of remembering the pioneers who were no more in this world. Rev. Vitoshe Wotsa led the prayer for all the villagers and in-laws.

Earlier, the jubilee monolith was unveiled by Rev. Hotokhu P. Zhimomi E.S. SABAK with the blowing of Jubilee trumpet and jubilee choir. Akashito Wotsa Pastor, Sumi Baptist Church, Tseminyu led the function.

The main jubilee celebration was led by Tovishe Shohe, Pastor MYBC, while S. Toshiho Sheqi recorded the followup function. Akhalu Sheqi, Akukau, Mishilimi delivered a welcome address, while presentation was led by Hosheli Q Wotsa, while Nipatoli Achumi, Associate Pastor Women MBC read the Bible. The morning benediction prayer by Yetokhu M. Wotsa, Ex. Pastor MBC.

The organizing committee members during press interaction informed that Mishilimi village have 700 households with more than 4000 population. The village is one of the biggest Sumi villages after Lazami village in Zunheboto District.

As prelude to centenary celebration of Christianity, all the churches of Mishilimi village come together and organized a jubilee programme, said one of its member.

The also added that a stone pulling traditional ceremony was also organised on 27th April 2019 and the stone was erected at the compound of Baptist Church, the first church established in 1921. They also informed that Christianity came to this village when late Pilitha went to Kohima for labor work and came to know Jesus Christ through Khulhou Angami (Khonoma) and was Baptized] by Evangelist Viliezu Rengma (Tseminyu Village) on 21 December 1921. They also mentioned that late Shikhuli Sheqi from this village was the first women avangelist among the Sumi community.
