The Mizoram government has allocated Rs 131 lakh for bamboo development in the state. On the other hand, the state also has received a total outlay of Rs 350 lakh under NBM-Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSR) during the fiscal 201-20.
This information was given by Mizoram Home minister Lalchamliana on Thursday while gracing a bamboo plantation programme organised by Assam Rifles at Lammual (Assam Rifles Ground) in Aizawl. The occasion was held in connection with the Gandhi Jayanti.
Lalchamliana also said that North Eastern Council (NEC) has allocated Rs 1300 lakh for development of bamboo in Mizoram during the financial year 2020-202. The minister however said that the sanction order is awaited.
The Mizoram Home minister then said that 213 beneficiaries have been identified for bamboo plantation. They have been provided nearly one lakh secondary hardened tissue culture bamboo plants under the scheme. Lalchamliana then expressed confidence that the state government would be able to improve the economy of Mizoram from bamboo.
The Mizoram Home minister then said the state government is working to converge Socio Economic Development Policy (SEDP) and National Bamboo Mission (NBM).
