Mizoram records highest single-day spike of COVID-19

AIZAWL, SEPT 9: Mizoram recorded the highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases on Wednesday as the 69 cases were detected.

According to the Health Department, of the total cases of COVID-19 recorded on Wednesday, 48 cases are from a camp of Border Security Force (BSF). With this latest update, the state’s tally of COVID-19 cases stands at 1192.

The Health department then said that 7 females are among the fresh cases of COVID-19. The report further said that 6 Army personnel are also among the new cases of COVID-19. It added that all the new cases are from Aizawl district. This update said that 54 cases of COVID-19 reported in the 24 hours are security force personnel.

Among the 15 civilians who are also among the fresh cases, 13 people were found infected with the virus during contact tracing, the official source said.

Meanwhile, the latest update, Mizoram has now 442 active cases of COVID-19.

It can be mentioned here that Mizoram has not reported any COVID-19 related fatality till date. The first positive case of COVID-19 in Mizoram was reported on March 24.

Meanwhile, the Health department said that the state has tested 46,414 samples for COVID-19 till date.

It can be noted here that Mizoram had reported 9 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, September 8. Among these 9 cases was a 2 years old child.

The recovery rate in the state is 66.34 per cent.
