AIZAWL (SHABD): Mizoram is currently sheltering 38,213 displaced persons, including people from Myanmar, Manipur and Bangladesh, Home Minister K. Sapdanga informed the State Assembly.
The figure includes 29,575 people from Myanmar, 6,959 internally displaced persons from Manipur and 1,679 people from Bangladesh.
The minister said the state government is providing essential assistance, including food and shelter, through the respective District Commissioners.

On biometric enrolment, Sapdanga said the process was 100 per cent complete for Bangladeshi refugees and 98.90 per cent complete for those from Myanmar.
The state government has so far spent ₹2,85,39,611 on relief efforts, the minister said.
He also stated that there have been no recent new directives from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs regarding refugees.
The Home Minister recently also said that the Mizoram government has so far spent Rs 40.60 lakh on biometric enrolment of refugees from Myanmar and Bangladesh, while financial assistance has also been received from the Centre for the care and maintenance of Myanmar refugees.
