Mohammedan SC trash ARA FC while Bengaluru United register first win in the I League Qualifiers

Mohammedan Sporting Club hit ARA FC for four making it two wins in two while Bengaluru United registered a narrow 1-0 win over Garhwal FC to get off the mark in the I League Qualifies.

Mohammedan Sporting’s Abhishek Rijal scored two in the first half of the early afternoon kickoff with Willis Plaza adding another to give Mohammedan a commanding 3-0 lead going into half time. ARA FC got a goal back through an own goal from Sujit in the 53rd minute to give ARA a glimmer of hope. It was soon dashed, however, when Faiaz scored Mohammedan’s fourth to seal all the points for the Kolkata outfits who maintained their perfect start.

In the early evening kick off, Bengaluru United overcame Garhwal FC 1-0 with William Opoku’s early goal (8th minute) sealing the win for Bengaluru United FC.

In a highly controversial turn of events, however, Mohammedan Sporting Club parted ways with their head coach Yan Law right after the game. The head coach made an official statement on his twitter handle announcing his resignation from the role while the club handle made a statement stating the head coach was sacked. It is yet to be exactly known why the club and the head coach parted ways but rumours point to match fixing controversy.
