Ukhrul, June 22: The mortal remains of the late Nganthoi Sharma Kongbrailakpam arrived at Imphal International Airport from Ahmedabad via Delhi on IndiGo Flight 6E 5118 at approximately 1:45 PM on Sunday.

K Nganthoi Sharma, a native of Awang Leikai in Thoubal district, Manipur, had joined Air India as a cabin crew member in April 2023. She was among the 242 individuals onboard the ill-fated Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (VT-ANB) that tragically crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad.

Her family has confirmed a positive DNA match, officially identifying her among the victims. Lt. K Nganthoi was one of two young flight attendants from Northeast India’s Manipur state, who lost their lives in the crash.

It is worth noting that in Kangpokpi district, the mortal remains of Lamnunthem (also Lamnunthiem) Singson, the 26‑year‑old flight attendant from Old Lambulane colony (Imphal), was laid to rest with full honours at Kangpokpi Town Cemetery following a funeral service on Friday afternoon .

Her body had reached Dimapur airport in Nagaland on Thursday, circumventing Imphal due to ongoing ethnic tensions. From Dimapur, the convoy traveled by road to Kangpokpi, making stops in communities along the way to pay respects. Hundreds, including family members, civil society leaders, and officials, attended a poignant condolence service at Senapati Bazaar led by the Naga People’s Organisation
