UKHRUL: The Office of the Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Manipur, has issued a clarification in response to information circulated on social media regarding the utilisation of Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds.
While acknowledging the intent of the individual who shared the information as that of a responsible citizen, the office stated that the claims lacked clarity and factual accuracy. It clarified that a total of 81 works have been taken up under the MPLAD scheme by the MP (Rajya Sabha), Manipur, and not 45 as claimed.
According to the clarification, 32 works executed under the earlier physical format system have already been completed, with utilisation certificates issued by the respective DRDA officials. As these projects were undertaken before the introduction of the MPLAD online portal, their status does not appear on the official portal.

The MPLAD online portal was introduced by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation during 2023–24, and its implementation in the state began in March 2024. Since then, 49 works have been recommended online, of which 21 were approved recently on December 1, 2025, and are currently under process at the DRDA level. So far, 18 works have been declared completed, though the completion status of some projects is yet to be updated on the portal.
The office emphasized that greater verification is necessary before making allegations against a public representative, noting that such disclosures should apply uniformly to all elected members, irrespective of political affiliation, to ensure transparency and accountability.
