KANGPOKPI: Saikul Assembly Constituency MLA Pi Kimneo Hangshing on Friday officially launched the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM) for Lhungtin Block at the SDO Office in Lhungtin, marking a key step toward strengthening grassroots economic development in the region.

The launch ceremony was attended by several prominent officials and community leaders, including SDO Lhungtin Pu Samuel Misao, Director of InSIDE NorthEast Pu Hejang Misao, and District Incharge Pu Letgin Doungel. The event also witnessed the presence of respected village chiefs and church leaders such as Pr. Kammang Hangshing of Lhungtin Christian Church and Pu Jamgin Khongsai, Head Deacon of Gampum Baptist Church.

The MSRLM initiative aims to mobilize rural poor households into Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and their federations, enabling greater financial inclusion and collective economic participation. It further seeks to promote sustainable livelihoods through targeted interventions such as skill development, entrepreneurship support for rural youth, and improved access to markets.

In addition to livelihood generation, the programme also focuses on strengthening rural infrastructure and enhancing institutional capacity at the grassroots level. By fostering community-based organizations and encouraging self-reliance, the mission is expected to create long-term socio-economic impact across Lhungtin Block.

The launch represents a significant milestone in empowering local communities and advancing inclusive growth, reinforcing the broader vision of building a resilient and self-sustaining rural economy in Manipur.
