UKHRUL: The Tangkhul Naga Zingsho Longphang (TNAL) and the Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang (TNZL) jointly felicitated Lieutenant General Honreishang Shadang, MSM, MC, AEM, the newly appointed Longvibu (Commander-in-Chief) of the Naga Army under NSCN/GPRN, at the Kamjong Higher Secondary School ground.

The felicitation programme saw the participation of a wide range of apex organisations and community bodies, including the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL), Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL), United Naga Council (UNC), Naga Women’s Union Manipur (NWUM), ANSAM, as well as representatives from various civil and army wings of the NSCN.
Several other organisations, such as the Eastern Kuki Chiefs Association, Pangal Organisation, Kamo Leishi Society, Kamo Kharar Long, Zingsho Katamnao Long and Tangkhul Aze Katamnao Long, among others, were also present, lending the event a strong sense of inter-community participation and unity.
During the programme, representatives of various organisations delivered messages of solidarity, emphasising themes of unity, courage, justice and renewed commitment to the collective aspirations of the Naga people. Speakers commended Longvibu Honreishang Shadang for his disciplined leadership, integrity and decades of service rooted in sacrifice and vision.
In its message, the Tangkhul Naga Awunga Long described Shadang’s appointment as a historic milestone for the Naga people, stating that it reflected the trust placed in his leadership. The message expressed confidence in his vision and integrity and offered prayers for wisdom and strength as he assumes his new responsibility.

Responding to the honour, Longvibu Honreishang Shadang expressed gratitude to God, attributing his rise to the highest leadership position to divine grace after 39 years and seven months of service to the Naga cause. He thanked senior Naga leaders for their guidance and said their leadership had strengthened his resolve to serve with honesty and purpose. He also expressed appreciation to the public for their continued support and trust.
The ceremony concluded with cultural performances, including a special song by noted artiste Chungsangla Jajo, a cultural dance by Kasom KL, and a song dedicated to the Longvibu by Chahong Kharar Long.
