Kohima: To promote Naga food and entrepreneurial Naga cooks and to take Naga cooks to the next level, the government of Nagaland had initiated a Naga Chef in 2013 with a handsome cash reward.


The grand finale of Naga Chef Season 8 was held at Mhachaki, Kohima on December 13. The winner was awarded with a cash prize Rs. 3 lakh.
Mutunulu Keyho won Naga Chef Season- 8. This was announced by Abu Metha, Advisor to Chief Minister Nagaland.


In his speech, Metha recollected that it was Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio who brought the concept of upscaling Naga food and taking it beyond our borders to make it an ambassador of Nagaland and Naga people. 


He said that some of the participants of the contest have gone on to become successful entrepreneurs by opening their own restaurants and running food businesses. 


Kevilezo Kense of Synergy Group Enterprise said that Naga Chef event was started in 2013 to promote Naga food and entrepreneurial Naga cooks and to take Naga food to the next level.
He said Naga Chef competition was supported by the Government of Nagaland, especially the department of tourism.
