Chandel, June 2: Naga student bodies of Chandel under the aegis of Naga Students’ Union Chandel (NSUC) on Monday picketed government offices in the district especially DC Office, SDO Office, ADC Office and the State Bank of India, Chandel Branch.

According to a press release from ANSAM, in pursuance of the resolution adopted during the presidential council meeting on May 12, 2025 and in consonance with the decision taken at the office bearers meeting held on May 26, 2025, the Association shall strictly take up office picketing in all the Naga Hill Districts for 48 hours starting on June 2, 2025.

Following the directive, which was also endorsed by the United Naga Council (UNC), Tangkhul Katamnao Shaklong (TKS) and the Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO) besides other CSOs, the NSUC and its nine constituent units went about in Chandel district headquarters and picketed government offices.

Chandel DC Office, SDO Office, ADC Office and State Bank of India were closed down during the process. Hence, no official activities or works within these offices took place thus affecting the common people.

These government offices will remain closed till Tuesday evening with no works being carried out.

The student bodies stated that this act of picketing government offices was vital and that it was a united demonstration expressing their resentment against the construction of the Indo-Myanmar border fencing and scrapping of the Free Movement Regime.
